To transform mechanical energy into electrical energy or the other way around, rotating machines are utilized. The principles of electromagnetic induction provide the basis for the operation of all electrical machinery, including motors and generators that use direct current or alternating current. Although they vary in size, form, and technological makeup, carbon brushes and collectors all serve the same fundamental purpose in the rotating machine. The carbon brush is an essential component in the transfer of current there. This is done to move current inside an electric circuit from a moving object to a stationary location or vice versa.
The Carbon Brush is installed in a brush holder that holds it in the proper orientation and enables the brush to run on the surface of the commutator or slip ring (collector) to transmit that current as efficiently as possible.
